# Your Essay Should Stay Yours. That Is Why MIFT Encrypts It

If you are typing a personal statement into a product, you are handing over family stories, grades, and plans you have not told a group chat. A general chatbot is a public square unless you hunt through settings. MIFT is built the other way around: the draft stays in the workspace. "We take privacy seriously" is still a slogan. Here is what the product actually claims, and how to check it.

## Three questions that actually matter

Is the data encrypted in transit and at rest? Can the company sell it? Does it train models on what you type, including third-party models? If any answer is vague, treat the product as a public square.

On consumer ChatGPT, conversations may train future models unless you find the setting and opt out. Policies have moved before. That is the wrong default for an application file. You should not have to opt out of becoming training data in order to draft a Why Us.

What you put in MIFT stays in MIFT. Encrypted, never sold, and never used to train public models, ours or anyone else's. We are not a hospital, a ministry, or your school counselor. We are a planning tool. The bar is still: your essay should not become someone else's training set. That is one of the reasons to write it here instead of in a general chatbot.

Do not take our word as magic. Open the policy, search for training, selling, and deletion, and see if the sentences are specific. Then do the same to every other app you paste a draft into. If you want the default to be encrypted and unused for public training, that is MIFT.
